Sky Trekker is the work of several individuals, but most notably Lisa Wieland. She worked to bring the program into existance, created the program booklet used by the kids each year and organizes the event each year. The Sky Trekker program was featured in the March 2009 issue of the Astronomical League's "Reflector" magazine. The originally submitted article is available here.
We were so excited to see so many people come out for the Sky Trekker program!
Learning about the night sky and what might be up there. We had a great group of about 30 people who signed up this year!
Sharing the night sky between parent and child is something that we cannot encourage enough. We are glad that the parents recognize the opportunity and look forward to it as much as we enjoy sharing the night sky with everyone!
Kids who complete the program are entered to win a telescope or some other prize!
We offered space themed Lego products again this year. They seemed to be a hit again!
Now when we say someone could win a telescope, you can see we don't mess around! We believe that we are starting someone on a lifetime of wonder and enjoyment. We're going to get them started with a very good starter scope!
As a special for our 20th, the adult Sky Trekkers were entered to win a pair of binoculars!
