A crescent moon passes Jupiter at sunset. This photo was deliberately overexposed to show "earthshine", which is sunlight that reflects from the sunlit side of the earth, to the moon, and back to the earth. "Earthshine" lights up the dark portion of the moon just like moonlight lights up the dark side of the earth. 1 second exposure on Kodak Royal Gold 1000 film. 200mm f/3.5 telephoto lens with 2X converter, piggybacked on the 12" scope.
