Sky Trekker is the work of several individuals, but most notably Lisa Wieland. She worked to bring the program into existance, created the program booklet used by the kids each year and organizes the event each year. Friday evening, the judges gather for instruction from Lisa. This assures that the judging is consistent and fair to all of the students that evening.
IFSP decided to provided 3 Celestron Cosmos FirstScopes as prizes in the three age categories. We hope this starts a lifetime of enjoying the night sky for these young people.
Despite the weather, we had a great turn out for our little program. Each year, we have new young people as well as a few who come back to improve their knowledge and progress up the challenge level.
